Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators that are used to treat and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. Botox and Dysport treatments (also known as Anti-Wrinkle or Wrinkle Relaxing treatments) help to reduce muscle activity. Less muscle movement prevents the formation of new fine lines and wrinkles from forming, while helping to smooth out and minimize the appearance of already formed fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox treatments should never make you look “frozen”. If you did experience the “frozen” look in the past, this means you were administered too much Botox and may not have been treated by an experienced injector.

At Uniquely You, we charge $10/unit for Botox and Dysport in Edmonton. The exact cost of treatment for Botox and Dysport depends on the number of units required for your specific needs. Remember, not everyone is the same and we all have different muscle strength and movement in our faces. 

Some patients require less units for proper treatment, while some patients require more units for optimal results, if they have stronger muscle movement. Men, for example, typically have stronger movement than women, and require higher amounts of product to achieve best results.

When administered by a highly trained medical professional with many years of injecting experience, Botox and Dysport treatments are relatively safe and pain-free. That said, some patients may experience a little redness, which shouldn’t last long. Bruising may also occur at the site of injection, though this is very rare. 

Most of our patients express their Anti-Wrinkle treatment as being quick and comfortable, with no side effects after treatment. This is why Botox is known as the “perfect lunchtime treatment!”

Patient safety is of utmost importance, therefore we do not offer Botox and Dysport treatments to pregnant or breastfeeding women at Uniquely You. There simply is not enough research to indicate safety, so women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not have Botox treatments.

Patients love Anti-Wrinkle treatments like Botox and Dysport because of the very visible, natural results this anti-aging treatment offers. Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport begin to work within 24 to 48 hours after being injected. That said, most patients will start to notice slight tightening of the muscles followed by wrinkle reduction about one week after treatment, with full results seen after two weeks.

It’s important to note that Botox and Dysport results are not permanent. Patients notice that their results usually last about 3-4 months. At Uniquely You, we recommend regular treatments to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and to prevent new fine lines and wrinkles from forming.

Though quite rare, some swelling or bruising is possible after your Botox or Dysport treatment, as a small needle is being used to inject the product safely into the targeted treatment area. At Uniquely You, we recommend planning at least two weeks in advance, prior to any upcoming special events or vacations. This ensures you see the best results and have enough time to heal from any potential bruising that may occur.
